G’day! I’m Dianne — a Victorian mum of one, living on the Surf Coast and passionate about supporting children to live fulfilling, creative lives.

I’m a qualified Art Teacher (Master’s degree) and a registered health professional. Art has always been my own tool for regulation, both as a child and an adult, and I truly believe that having a creative outlet is one of the most nourishing, fun, and grounding ways to move through life.

Children are naturally creative — it’s innate. Through curiosity and exploration, they develop essential skills like problem-solving, flexible thinking, innovation, confidence, and resilience. Creativity isn’t just about making art — it’s about how children think, explore, and understand the world around them.

As our world evolves with new technologies like AI, one of the greatest advantages we have as humans is our ability to imagine, connect ideas, and create something new. Creativity empowers children to think independently, generate original ideas, and shape the future — not just follow it.

I personally love experimenting and learning through creative practice. You’ll often find me painting with watercolours, drawing, making jewellery, working with resin, crocheting, card-making, or diving into small craft projects.

My son (4.5) is right there alongside me, following his own creative spirit. Our car is often filled with leaves, sticks, gum nuts, and feathers collected on our nature walks — all waiting to become our next project. Please tell me I’m not the only one with a car full of nature treasures!

What sets us apart is our approach. Our aim is to engage, excite and lean into play and curiosity — to find joy in experimentation. Learning through play is at the heart of everything we do.

We’re not focused on creating “perfect” or framable artworks. Instead, we explore what happens when we mix, layer, pull apart, cut, glue, scrunch, and experiment freely.

We try to use accessible art materials, nature-based materials, and love linking what we explore to picture story books, science concepts, mindfulness techniques, and the outdoors wherever possible.

At Dianne’s Art Room, we’re building a community of like-minded families and children who love to create, explore, and share their learning.

Join us for in-person and live drop-in classes to connect, create, and celebrate curious minds.

And while a finished artwork isn’t our main goal, you may still walk away with something special to frame — but most importantly, we have fun!
